The Voices of We - Mission Statement
As a collection of monologues and short plays, The Voices Of We is available for production, in part or whole, for professional theaters, women and gender studies programs, and women’s organizations who wish to bring voice to women’s issues and aid in fundraising.
The Voices Of We features a predominantly female cast whose characters address the plight of women’s oppression and the shame that is left in it’s wake. In addition to being a highly entertaining evening of theatre, The Voices of We is touted as a vehicle for social and political change; one that offers unabashed humor and riveting dramatic context.
The Voices Of We supports the aim of those who wish to aid in the struggle against patriarchal dominance, and the fight for reproductive rights, self-defined gender identity and sexual orientation, motherhood, body image, the elimination of domestic violence, along with all shame-based issues and beliefs about self and others.
We are proud to announce that at it’s premiere, The Voices of We raised more than $4000.00 in donations for Boston women’s organizations. It is our greatest hope that future productions of The Voices Of We will continue to give voice to women who lack a forum, to shed light on issues that require action, and to champion the earnest belief that we can create effective change through relevant and enticing performance art.
